Bio and Contact

Hello, my name is Kellie Lingle!  I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with my Masters of Teaching and Bachelors of Arts in History in 2013 and this will be my 8th year teaching, second year at Moody Middle School. I previously taught in Morocco, Richmond City, and at Northstar Academy.   I currently teach 7th grade Individuals and Societies & 7th grade U.S. II. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and traveling.

I believe that I am well rounded in the arts, initially being accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University for art foundations. My love of art transfers into the classroom as I try to make it project based and not solely test based. I also helped to create a curriculum guide for both Richmond City and Henrico County that helped integrate arts and technology into the classroom. I have also coached a teaching resident, someone who I coach and mentor during the entire year through the Richmond Teaching Residency Program.

I believe that teaching should be student centered using an open group dynamic. I like to have a flexible and reflective classroom community where the students can be proactive instead of reactive, and are taking charge of their learning. I think the concept of community classroom is important, to make sure that each student feels safe and respected in their learning environment. I am committed to both individual and community projects, believing that community outreach is one of the most important things to do while teaching,
